The sites below are ones I recommend and use on a regular basis for information such as finding hikes, summits, waterfalls, learning about what's going on in our National Forests and on our trails, etc.

APPALACHIAN TREKS

A blog with superb photography by Mark Peacock.  This is my number one pick as a resource for hikes in the Southern Appalachians... providing descriptions and directions, plus the eye candy is awesome!

Absolutely awesome waterfall guide that offers great photography, videos, trail directions, driving directions, a great waterfall photography tutorial, and a unique waterfall rating system.

All about the Appalachian Trail.

The Tennessee Hiking and Canoeing Club, which maintains 132 miles of A.T. in Tennessee and North Carolina.  Find hikes or learn about the maintenance that the TEHCC provides for the A.T.

Nice hike finding search engine, along with information about the different challenges such as the SB6K program.

I use this site often to find prominent landforms such as summits and waterfalls.  The site links to maps of those areas along with providing GPS information.

Another great resource for finding waterfalls in Tennessee and surrounding regions.  Great photography too.

Waterfall and other outdoor sights photographed and indexed by Bill Stowell.  This is another great resource with wonderful photography.

Forest Service's site all about the Cherokee NF.  Find info such as trail descriptions, and important happenings in our National Forest.
